Jazz try to end first half with win over Sonics

Feb 13, 2008 - 1:14 PM Utah (33-19) at Seattle (13-37) 10:00 pm EST

SEATTLE (Ticker) - The Utah Jazz have surged into the top spot in the Northwest Division on the strength of 11 wins in their last 12 games.

The Jazz try to carry that momentum into the All-Star break on Wednesday when they close their first-half schedule against the Seattle SuperSonics.

Utah, which holds a one-game lead over the Denver Nuggets for first place in the Northwest Division, had a 10-game win streak snapped on Friday, suffering a 117-104 setback to the Sacramento Kings. But, the Jazz got back on track the very next night, posting a 97-87 victory over the Chicago Bulls.

Deron Williams scored 15 points and added 11 assists against the Bulls, registering his 10th double-double in the last 11 games. Williams is averaging 19 points and nearly 10 assists per game this season.

The Sonics continue to struggle to find consistency this campaign. After completing a three-game win streak, Seattle has dropped two of its last three games, including a 103-99 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Friday.

Chris Wilcox led the way against the Suns, scoring 22 points while pulling down 15 rebounds for his second straight double-double. Wilcox, who is averaging 13.2 points and 7.4 rebounds this season, has five double-doubles in his last six games.
