76ers thinking playoffs as second-half begins against T-Wolves

Feb 19, 2008 - 3:23 PM Philadelphia (23-30) at Minnesota (10-41) 8:00 pm EST

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) - The Philadelphia 76ers will look to pick up where they left off when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night as both teams return from the All-Star break.

Philadelphia (23-30) has won a season-high five games, all at home, and is currently tied with the New Jersey Nets for the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Sixers, who are 10-12 against the West and 9-16 on the road, are 18-3 when they shoot the same or better from the floor than their opponent. Philadelphia is coming off a 102-88 victory over Memphis on Wednesday.

Minnesota enters the game coming off a 117-92 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers at home last Wednesday. The loss set them back to 3-7 in their past 10 games.

A bright spot for the Timberwolves has been the play of Al Jefferson, who leads the team in scoring and rebounds with career-highs of 21.2 points per game (18th in the NBA) and 12.1 rebounds per game (fifth in the NBA).

The Timberwolves, who have less wins than any team other than Miami, are 8-5 when scoring 100-plus points.
