Sixers look to rebound vs. Knicks

Feb 20, 2008 - 11:56 AM New York (16-37) at Philadelphia (23-31) 7:00 pm EST

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- It's been a forgettable season for the New York Knicks, but the Philadelphia 76ers might have hit a new low.

The 76ers finished with five consecutive wins prior to the All-Star break, but began the second half of the season with a 104-88 road loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday.

It was only the 11th win of the season for Minnesota in 52 games.

The break appeared to halt Philadelphia's momentum and impeded its push for the playoffs. The Sixers have 27 games remaining to secure a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Philadelphia entered the second half of the season tied with New Jersey for the seventh spot and is hoping to reach the postseason for the first time since 2004-05.

New York opened the second half with a record-setting performance in a 113-100 overtime victory over Washington on Tuesday.

The Knicks scored 23 points in overtime, eclipsing the team mark of 19 set in a victory over Detroit in 1964. New York has won only two of its last 11 games.

Wednesday's game will conclude the four-game season series. Philadelphia has won two of the previous three meetings, including a 101-90 decision at home on December 7.
