Blazers gunning for home-and-home sweep of Sonics

Feb 22, 2008 - 2:13 PM Portland (29-25) at Seattle (14-39) 10:30 pm EST

SEATTLE (Ticker) - With one losing streak is over, the Portland Trail Blazers set their sights on ending another skid.

The Trail Blazers look to sweep a home-and-home series when they visit the Seattle SuperSonics on Friday.

Brandon Roy scored 19 points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds to lead Portland to a 92-88 victory over the Sonics on Thursday. Despite not hitting a shot from the field over the final 6:15, the Blazers converted 27-of-39 free throws during the game en route to snapping a five-game losing streak.

Portland hopes to end a similar slide on Friday.

The Blazers have lost five straight contests on the road with their last victory coming on January 21 against the Atlanta Hawks.

Winning in Seattle won't be easy for Portland as the Sonics have won four of their last six games at KeyArena.

The Sonics have lost four of their last six contests overall, but are hoping some new faces will end the that trend.

In a three-team deal Thursday, Seattle shipped Wally Szczerbiak and Delonte West to the Cleveland Cavaliers, receiving Donyell Marshall and Ira Newble as well as Adrian Griffin from the Chicago Bulls in return.
