Hawks aim to end 13-game road slide at Jazz

Feb 23, 2008 - 3:02 PM Atlanta (22-30) at Utah (35-20) 9:00 pm EST

SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) - The Atlanta Hawks will look to kill two birds with one stone on Saturday when they visit the Utah Jazz.

Atlanta goes for its first road win in Utah since the 1993-94 season while also earning its first season-series sweep since 1992-93. The Hawks drought here spans 13 consecutive trips.

In their first meeting, All-Star Joe Johnson buried the Jazz for 26 points to lead all five starters in double figures in Atlanta's 116-111 victory on December 17.

On Friday, the Hawks finally broke through on their six-game West Coast road trip as Johnson poured in 17 of his 27 points in the first half in a 117-110 win at Golden State.

"We got out and ran with those guys," said Johnson, who owns a career average of 15.0 points against Utah. "We made a lot of shots early so we were able to build a lead."

Despite getting 26 points and 10 assists from Deron Williams, Utah still came up on the short end of the stick with Friday's 114-104 defeat to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Jazz All-Star Carlos Boozer will try to give a repeat showing in this one as he dominated the paint against the Hawks for a season-high 39 points and 12 boards in the first matchup.

The 6-9 Boozer is averaging close to a double-double with 16.5 points and 9.9 rebounds while shooting 52 percent in 11 career games in the series.
