Wallace, Szczerbiak to debut for Cavs vs. Grizzlies
Feb 24, 2008 - 5:56 PM Memphis (14-41) at Cleveland (31-24) 6:00 pm ESTCLEVELAND (Ticker) -- LeBron James gets his first opportunity to try out his new toys Sunday when the Cleveland Cavaliers host the lowly Memphis Grizzlies.
General manager Danny Ferry finally answered James' request to get more help by acquiring Ben Wallace, Wally Szczerbiak, Joe Smith and Delonte West in part of a three-team deal involving Chicago and Seattle at Thursday's trade deadline.
Wallace and Smith brings veteran leadership, playoff experience and depth to the frontcourt while Szczerbiak and West add two established shooters for James.
With only eight players in uniform for Cleveland, James had 33 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists in Friday's slim 90-89 victory over the Washington Wizards.
"As long as I'm on the court, I expect us to win," James said.
While the Cavaliers look to tighten their rotation for another possible trip to the NBA Finals, the Grizzlies are just hoping to find the light at the end of the tunnel.
Memphis dropped its fourth consecutive outing and fell to 1-8 since trading away Pau Gasol with a 98-82 setback to the Dallas Mavericks on Friday.
On January 15 in Memphis, James had 51 points, nine assists and eight boards in Cleveland's 132-124 victory.
