Maggette leads balanced attack as Clippers top Blazers

Nov 7, 2006 - 6:28 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Corey Maggette is not in the starting lineup this season. The Los Angeles Clippers want to keep it that way.

Maggette scored 20 points and Cuttino Mobley added 17 as the Clippers had five players in double figures in a 102-89 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Sam Cassell had 16 points and seven assists for Los Angeles, which shot 45 percent (37-of-82) to pick up its third straight victory.

After starting for the majority of his six-year career in Los Angeles, Maggette has been successful coming off the bench this season. He had 23 points and 12 rebounds as the Clippers posted a 114-108 victory over Phoenix on Saturday.

Two days later, the 6-6 swingman shot 7-of-14 from the floor and 6-of-9 from the free throw line to help Los Angeles overpower Portland.

Mobley was 7-of-12 from the field in 31 minutes and Shaun Livingston added eight points, six rebounds and six assists.

The Blazers led, 22-20, after the first quarter, but the Clippers gradually pulled away with a solid performance over the final three periods.

Zach Randolph collected 35 points and 13 rebounds for Portland, which was outrebounded, 45-38.
