Warriors look to keep pace in competitive West

Feb 26, 2008 - 2:51 PM Seattle (15-40) at Golden State (33-22) 10:30 pm EST

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) - The Golden State Warriors hope to avoid another setback at home when they host the Seattle SuperSonics on Tuesday.

Playing without regular starters Andris Biedrins and Stephen Jackson, the Warriors dropped a 117-110 decision to Atlanta on Friday. Biedrins is supposed to miss a week after an appendectomy, while Jackson is day-day with a sore ankle.

Baron Davis scored 35 points in Friday's defeat and Monta Ellis added 26. The lightning-quick Ellis is averaging 27.2 points over his last six games.

Despite the disappointing loss, Golden State holds a 1/2 game edge over Denver (33-23) for the eighth spot in the Western Conference and the Warriors have beaten the Sonics in eight of the last 10 meetings.

Seattle is coming off a 111-91 setback to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday but is still a more respectable 6-5 in its last 11 games.

Mickael Gelabale had a career-high 21 points in the loss for the Sonics, who dealt Delonte West, Wally Szczerbiak and Kurt Thomas before the trading deadline - stacking up draft picks for the next couple seasons.

Rookie Kevin Durant continues to lead the team in scoring at 19.2 points per game and had 15 in the loss to the Lakers. Durant is shooting just 36 percent (16-of-45) over his last three games.
