Without Wallace, Bobcats meet Knicks

Feb 27, 2008 - 1:56 PM Charlotte (19-37) at New York (17-39) 7:30 pm EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) - The Charlotte Bobcats are mired in their latest losing streak and things don't appear to be getting any better.

The Bobcats attempt to snap a three-game slide on Wednesday when they visit the lowly New York Knicks.

Charlotte suffered its 10th loss in its last 11 games on Saturday against the Washington Wizards in the first contest without leading-scorer Gerald Wallace.

Wallace suffered a Grade 3 concussion when he took an inadvertent elbow to the face by the Sacramento Kings' Mikki Moore on Friday.

Matters only got worse for Wallace this past weekend as the 25-year-old forward developed headaches, drowsiness and soreness in his neck and jaw. The Bobcats announced Monday that their superstar will be out indefinitely due to post-concussion symptoms.

Wallace, who is averaging 20.6 points per game this season, scored 27 points to lead the Bobcats to a 105-95 victory over the Knicks during the teams' first meeting on December 21.

New York has alternated wins and losses over its last six games and is coming off a split of a home-and-home series with the Toronto Raptors over this past weekend.

Jamal Crawford scored a season-high 43 points as the Knicks edged out a four-point victory on Friday. Crawford poured in 26 on Sunday, but it wasn't enough as the Raptors got revenge with a 115-92 triumph.

The 27-year-old Crawford, who leads the team at 20.7 points per game, scored just 16 points on 6-of-18 shooting during the first meeting against the Bobcats.
