Nuggets suddenly fighting for playoff spot vs. Sonics

Feb 27, 2008 - 2:14 PM Denver (33-23) at Seattle (15-41) 10:00 pm EST

SEATTLE (Ticker) - The Denver Nuggets need to reverse their recent play before their playoff hopes slip away.

The Nuggets look to end a three-game losing streak when they visit the Seattle SuperSonics on Wednesday.

Despite 28 points from Allen Iverson and 23 and 11 rebounds by Carmelo Anthony, Denver couldn't avoid its fourth loss in five games, enduring a 98-93 setback to the Detroit Pistons on Monday.

The Nuggets were ousted from eighth place in the Western Conference one night later by the Golden State Warriors, who posted a 105-99 victory over the Sonics on Tuesday.

Seattle, which has lost four of its last six games, scored 32 points in the first quarter on Tuesday but managed only 42 in the entire second half, falling to 5-22 on the road this season.

Denver hasn't faced Seattle since opening the season with a 120-103 victory on October 31. Iverson and Anthony led the Nuggets, combining for 57 points, 19 assists and 10 rebounds.
