Paul, Hornets seek revenge against Wizards

WASHINGTON (Ticker) - Chris Paul has been in fine form against the some of the NBA's best point guards over the last few days. His next goal is to avenge the New Orleans Hornets' last loss.

Paul and the Hornets seek redemption for a loss six days ago to the Washington Wizards when the teams meet Sunday at the Verizon Center.

The All-Star point guard had 25 points, 15 assists and three steals in New Orleans' 120-103 win over Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday and followed that up with a 24-points, 16-assist, five-steal performance against Deron Williams and the Utah Jazz in a 110-98 victory on Friday.

Those two wins snapped the Hornets' season-high-tying three-game losing streak, capped by Monday's surprising 95-92 home setback to the Wizards. Wizards guard DeShawn Stevenson scored a career-high 33 points, including a buzzer-beating 3-pointer that gave Washington the win.

While New Orleans has turned its fortunes around since that loss to the Wizards, Stevenson has been unable to capitalize on the momentum created from that game. The eighth-year guard managed a total of seven points in his last two contests.

His contributions were not needed in Friday's 97-91 victory over the Chicago Bulls. All-Star forward Antawn Jamison recorded his 33rd double-double of the season with 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Wizards, who have won three of their last four games.

Washington will be seeking their first season sweep in this series since the 1989-90 season when it was known as the Bullets and the Hornets were still based in Charlotte.
