Surprising Jazz take on well-rested Nets on the road

Nov 8, 2006 - 3:31 PM Utah (4-0) at New Jersey (1-1) 7:30 pm EST

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) - The Utah Jazz have been one of the biggest surprises in the NBA. On Wednesday, they hope to continue their success against one of the top squads in the Eastern Conference.

The Jazz will look to remain unbeaten when they open a three-game road trip against the New Jersey Nets.

Utah won in exciting fashion on Monday thanks to a great defensive play. Mehmet Okur's game-saving block on Richard Hamilton as time expired to help the Jazz remain undefeated with a 103-101 triumph over the Detroit Pistons.

Okur had 23 points and 10 rebounds and Carlos Boozer added 20 and 11 for Utah, which held a 10-point advantage at the start of the fourth quarter. It marked the third consecutive game the duo has each registered a double-double.

Okur spent his first two seasons with Detroit before leaving as a free agent in 2004.

The Nets are well-rested with their last game coming on the road against the Miami Heat on Friday.

While Vince Carter kept the Nets in it with 27 points, Richard Jefferson and Jason Kidd struggled from the field. Jefferson shot 4-of-15 and scored 11 points while Kidd was 2-for-7 with just three assists in 91-85 loss to the Heat.

Utah has lost three in a row at New Jersey.
