Richardson leads Bobcats against high-powered Warriors
Mar 5, 2008 - 1:47 PM Golden State (37-22) at Charlotte (21-39) 7:00 pm ESTCHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) - The Charlotte Bobcats will need another huge performance out of Jason Richardson on Wednesday if they hope to keep up with the high-octane attack of the Golden State Warriors.
Richardson scored 25 points in a 109-89 win over Minnesota on Tuesday and is averaging 28.3 points over the past three games on 42 percent (28-of-67) shooting.
The Bobcats have won two straight, but just three of their last 15 games.
Charlotte will need Richardson to continue his hot play since it is missing Gerald Wallace's 20.6 points per game. Wallace has missed five straight games due to a concussion and is day-to-day.
"That's 21 points we're missing every night," Richardson said of Wallace's absence. "I'm picking it up, (rookie forward) Jared Dudley is picking it up, Raymond Felton is picking it up, we're all trying to pick up the 21 points a night we are missing from him."
Without Wallace, the Bobcats may not have enough fire power to go toe-to-toe with the Warriors, who exploded for a season-high 135 points on Tuesday.
Baron Davis scored 35 points, Stephen Jackson had 29 and Monta Ellis added 20 as Golden State posted its fourth straight win, 135-118, over the Atlanta Hawks.
