Hornets host sinking Hawks

NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) - The Atlanta Hawks are quickly playing themselves out of a playoff berth. The New Orleans Hornets are playing for post-season position.

The Hawks, currently ninth in the race for on of the eight Eastern Conference playoff spots, have lost two straight and 10 of 13 games after a 135-118 home loss to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday.

Atlanta is 7-22 on the road, having lost its last three games away from home. Wednesday's game will conclude the two-game season series between the teams.

David West had 22 points and 17 rebounds for the Hornets in a 92-86 win over the Hawks in Atlanta on November 30.

New Orleans has won three of four since snapping a three-game losing streak, including a 100-88 road victory over the New York Knicks on Monday.

The Hornets, currently in third place in the Western Conference, are 20-10 at home. New Orleans has won its last two home games and is 12-6 against the East.
