Jazz look for 17th straight home win vs. Timberwolves

Mar 5, 2008 - 2:38 PM Minnesota (12-47) at Utah (39-22) 9:00 pm EST

SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) - As long as they are playing at home, the Utah Jazz are the best team in basketball.

The Jazz will be looking to run their home winning streak to 17 games when they host the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.

Utah owns an NBA-best 26-3 record at EnergySolutions Arena, including a 116-110 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. Deron Williams led the way with 17 points and 20 assists and Carlos Boozer poured in 28 points.

Boozer, who leads the team in scoring at 21.6 points per game, shoots 59.2 percent from the floor at home against 49.8 percent on the road. Williams ranks fourth in the NBA with 10.1 assists per game, averaging 11 at home and 9.3 on the road.

The Jazz's inspired play in front of their home fans has them leading the Northwest Division, three games ahead of the Denver Nuggets (35-24). Their standing as division leader has them ranked fourth in the Western Conference playoff picture.

The Timberwolves, on the other hand, own the NBA's worst road record at 2-25. They have not won away from home since taking down Golden State, 109-108, on January 21.

Minnesota dropped a 109-89 decision on Wednesday against the Charlotte Bobcats. Al Jefferson scored 18 points, but the Timberwolves were outscored 27-14 in the fourth quarter.

The division rivals have met just once so far this season, with the Timberwolves grabbing a 111-100 victory on their home floor. Jefferson led the way with 22 points and Boozer scored 34 in a losing effort.
