Surging Sixers go for eighth straight home win
Mar 7, 2008 - 3:16 PM Seattle (16-45) at Philadelphia (28-33) 7:00 pm ESTPHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia 76ers face the Seattle SuperSonics on Friday looking for their eighth consecutive home win.
The Sixers are 10-3 in their last 13 games and have moved into seventh place in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
Philadelphia, which started the season 5-12, closed out a three-game road trip with consecutive wins over the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 112.5 points while shooting 57.7 percent from the field.
"We kind of went through a change in management, and they wanted us to get up and down the court more," point guard Andre Miller said. "So with the athleticism we have on this team, we want to do that and get easy baskets."
The Sixers' current home streak matches their longest since winning their first 10 home games in the 2002-03 season.
Seattle, whose record is better than only two teams in the Western Conference, has lost 15 of its last 17 games away from home.
The Sonics are 6-24 on the road. Seattle is currently 1-2 on the season-high seven-game road trip, which concludes March 12 in Boston.
