Pistons aim to avenge ugly loss to Knicks

Mar 7, 2008 - 4:01 PM Detroit (44-17) at New York (18-43) 7:30 pm EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The Detroit Pistons produced one of the most miserable offensive performances in their storied history the last time they visited the New York Knicks.

The Pistons aim to exact a measure of revenge Friday when they visit the lowly Knicks.

Detroit was awful in its last visit to Madison Square Garden, dropping an 89-65 decision here on January 13.

A three-point play with 13 seconds remaining prevented the Pistons from finishing with their lowest single-game point total in franchise history.

"We couldn't make a shot and we couldn't stop them from hitting a shot," Detroit guard Chauncey Billups said. "That is a deadly combination. We just couldn't throw a rock in the ocean."

Detroit dropped a 90-78 decision on Wednesday to the Boston Celtics, the only team in the league with a better record.

The Knicks come in having lost four straight games, including a 119-105 home loss to Cleveland on Wednesday.

LeBron James finished with 50 points as the Cavaliers dropped New York to 4-15 in its last 19 games.
