Spurs visit Nuggets looking for 12th straight win

DENVER (Ticker) -- Manu Ginobili and the San Antonio Spurs aim to extend their season-high 11-game winning streak Friday when they visit the Denver Nuggets.

San Antonio, which has won four titles in the last nine years, is gearing up for another long playoff run. Behind the scorching hot play of Ginobili, the Spurs have won 15 of its last 16 contests.

A six-year veteran, Ginobili is averaging 26.1 points in his last 10 games. In that span he has gone for 46, 44, 34, and 30 points.

Ginobili scored 28 points Thursday as San Antonio cruised to a 108-97 victory over the Indiana Pacers.

Despite their stellar run, the Spurs are just percentage points ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers (43-18) for the top spot in the Western Conference.

Also hot on San Antonio's heels in the Southwest Division are New Orleans (41-19) and Houston (40-20). The Hornets are are two games back, while Houston has won 17 straight and is 2 1/2 games out of first.

The Nuggets are one game behind Golden State for the final playoff spot and are in the midst of a difficult five-game stretch.

Carmelo Anthony had 30 points and 13 rebounds in Wednesday's 126-113 win over the Phoenix Suns.

It was the third win in the last four games for Denver, which rebounded from Sunday night's loss at Houston.

The Nuggets end their rough five-game stretch with road games against the Utah Jazz on Saturday and at San Antonio on Monday.
