Duncan, Spurs take on struggling Suns
Mar 9, 2008 - 1:19 PM San Antonio (43-18) at Phoenix (40-22) 3:30 pm ESTPHOENIX (Ticker) - Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs aim for their 12th win in 13 games Sunday when they face the struggling Phoenix Suns.
San Antonio had its 11-game winning streak stopped Friday with a 109-96 loss to the Denver Nuggets.
Trying to avoid losing consecutive games for the first time since late January, the Spurs do hold a 1 1/2-game lead over red-hot Houston in the Southwest Division.
Phoenix, which is just 6-8 since acquiring Shaquille O'Neal on February 6, is looking to avoid losing four straight home games for the first time since March 6-19, 2004.
Thanks to their struggles, the Suns have fallen into sixth place in the competitive Western Conference.
On Friday, the Suns surrendered a double-digit lead in the second half in a 126-118 loss to the Utah Jazz.
The Suns have lost five of their last eight at home to the Spurs.
