Randolph pours in 36 points as Blazers blast Lakers
Nov 9, 2006 - 5:52 AM PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- The Portland Trail Blazers have been one of the worst home teams in the NBA in recent seasons. That trend does not pertain to the Los Angles Lakers.Zach Randolph had 36 points and 10 rebounds and the Blazers capitalized on a huge run that bridged the final two quarters to win their fourth straight home contest against the Lakers, 101-90.
Jarrett Jack scored 12 points and reserve Juan Dixon added 10 on 5-of-7 shooting for Portland, which has the third-worst home record since the start of the 2004-05 season (34-49).
Randolph shot 12-of-23 from the floor, including a 3-pointer, to record his second straight 30-point outing. He collected 35 points and 13 rebounds in a 102-89 loss at the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday.
Randolph needed to take his game to another level since Portland rookie Brandon Roy missed the game with a nagging heel injury. Roy, the sixth overall pick in the June draft, averaged 18.3 points through his first three games.
The Lakers closed a 13-point third-quarter deficit to four. But the Blazers used a 15-2 spurt over a seven-minute span bridging the third and fourth quarters to rebuild the lead to 84-69 with 7:43 left.
Kobe Bryant scored 32 points on 12-of-19 shooting and Luke Walton added 22 for the Lakers, who were coming off Tuesday's 95-88 victory over Minnesota.
