Knicks, Heat mired in long losing streaks

Mar 12, 2008 - 2:40 PM NY Knicks (18-46) at Miami (11-51) 7:30 pm EDT

MIAMI (Ticker) -- The New York Knicks aim to avoid their eighth straight loss Wednesday when they visit the lowly Miami Heat.

The Knicks have been beaten by double digits four times during their seven-game skid, including Monday's 108-79 loss at Dallas.

New York was routed despite the return of leading scorers Jamal Crawford and Zach Randolph, who combined for 34 points.

The Knicks hope to bounce back against the shorthanded Heat, who will be without All-Star guard Dwyane Wade for the remainder of the season.

Wade, who will miss Miami's final 21 games to rest his surgically repaired left knee, joins Alonzo Mourning and Dorell Wright with season-ending injuries.

On Monday, the Heat lost to the Los Angeles Clippers, 99-98, in their first game without Wade.

It was the fifth straight loss for Miami, which had the league minimum eight players available for the contest.
