James, Cavaliers face sinking Nets

Mar 12, 2008 - 2:49 PM Cleveland (37-27) at New Jersey (26-38) 7:30 pm EDT

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Playing perhaps the best basketball in his pro career, LeBron James looks to move the Cleveland Cavaliers closer to a playoff berth Wednesday against the fading New Jersey Nets.

The NBA's leading scorer, James is averaging 37.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 6.4 assists

The Cavaliers have won five of their last six games to move 10 games over .500 for the first time this season.

James recorded his 17th career triple-double Monday, finishing with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists in an 88-80 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.

New Jersey has lost nine of 12 games since trading Jason Kidd to Dallas and has fallen out of the top eight places in the Eastern Conference standings.

The Nets have lost all five games that Devin Harris, acquired in the Kidd trade, has started at point guard. New Jersey has lost six consecutive games overall.
