Bobcats look for first win against Mavericks

Mar 12, 2008 - 3:11 PM Charlotte (24-39) at Dallas (41-23) 8:30 pm EDT

DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Charlotte Bobcats, who have won a franchise-record five straight games, look for another first on Wednesday.

The Bobcats seek their first win against the Dallas Mavericks, who are 7-0 all-time against Charlotte.

The recent run by the Bobcats, who were 1-11 in February, has enabled them to pull within two games of eighth-place Atlanta in the race for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot.

Charlotte posted a 100-97 win over the Washington Wizards in their last contest on Saturday.

"It tells us a lot about ourselves," Bobcats guard Jason Richardson said. "If we play together and go out there and play hard, we have the chance to win a lot of games. We're just playing for pride right now, and fortunately that pride has translated into getting back into the playoff picture."

Gerald Wallace, who hasn't played since suffering a concussion on February 22 in a 116-115 overtime loss to Sacramento, could return against the Mavericks. The small forward is averaging 20.6 points this season.

Dallas has won two straight, including a 108-79 rout of the struggling New York Knicks on Monday.

The Mavericks, 27-4 at home, are 6-5 since acquiring point guard Jason Kidd from the New Jersey Nets.
