Warriors continue playoff push vs. Toronto

Mar 12, 2008 - 3:30 PM Toronto (34-29) at Golden State (39-23) 10:30 pm EDT

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- The Golden State Warriors continue their playoff pursuit Wednesday when they host the Toronto Raptors.

After going 42-40 last season, the Warriors are on pace to surpass 50 wins but are only 2 1/2 games ahead of ninth-place Denver (37-26) in the race for the final playoff spot in the rugged Western Conference.

Golden State returns home after going 3-1 on their four-game Eastern Conference road swing. This is the Warriors' first game since the team picked up next year's contract option on coach Don Nelson.

Golden State is coming off its most impressive win of the trip, a 104-99 victory at Orlando on Saturday. Baron Davis led the Warriors with 33 points and nine rebounds.

Golden State, which allows an NBA-high 107.6 points per game, forced 20 turnovers and held its second straight opponent to less than 100 points. The Warriors have held opponents under the century mark just 17 times this season.

Toronto, just one of five teams in the East with a winning record, is likely headed to the postseason despite losing four of its last six games without leading scorer Chris Bosh, who remains sidelined with a sore right knee.

The Raptors started their five-game Western Conference road trip on Tuesday with a 117-108 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. T.J. Ford scored 28 points in the defeat.
