Sixers look continue surge vs. Spurs

Mar 15, 2008 - 2:06 PM San Antonio (44-20) at Philadelphia (31-34) 7:00 pm EDT

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) - The Philadelphia 76ers aim to continue their late-season surge when the San Antonio Spurs come calling on Saturday.

On Friday, the Sixers rallied from 18 down to pick up their sixth win in seven games on the shoulders of Andre Iguodala's 25-point performance in a 110-106 victory at Chicago.

"I was thinking can we really come back?" Iguodala said. "Coach (Maurice Cheeks) said if we can just get it down to 10, but the guys have a lot of heart, we cut it, got some stops and before you know it we were up."

Philadelphia enters with an opportunity to gain ground on the Washington Wizards (32-32), who are just one game in front for sixth place in the Eastern Conference.

The 76ers are also looking to bounce back against the Spurs, who captured an 89-82 victory in the first meeting at the AT&T Center on January 14.

San Antonio hopes to rebound as well after dropping a close 84-80 decision to the Detroit Pistons on Friday.

"It's never good to lose, especially when we've lost three of our last four," Spurs guard Manu Ginobili said. "We are upset but we have another game (Saturday) against a team that is really improving (Philadelphia), so it will be a great test."

The defending champion Spurs should be back at full strength with the return of Bruce Bowen, who served his one-game suspension for kicking New Orleans' Chris Paul on Wednesday.
