Iverson, Nuggets face SuperSonics

Mar 16, 2008 - 12:58 PM Seattle (16-50) at Denver (39-26) 9:00 pm EDT

DENVER (Ticker) -- Allen Iverson and the Nuggets aim for their third straight victory when they take on the Seattle SuperSonics on Sunday.

Denver crushed the Toronto Raptors, 137-105, on Friday to remain 1 1/2 games behind the Golden State Warriors for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Iverson scored 28 points and Carmelo Anthony added 22 and six assists for the Nuggets, who reached their second-highest scoring mark of the season.

Denver's highest point total was a 138-106 rout against Seattle on February 27. The Nuggets have won three straight double-digit games against the Sonics and nine of 12 overall against the team with the third-worst record in the Western Conference.

Seattle, which has lost seven straight games and 11 of 12, became the first Western Conference team to reach 50 losses with a 121-116 defeat to Minnesota on Friday.

Rookie Kevin Durant scored 24 points and Chris Wilcox 20 for the SuperSonics, who are one loss shy of matching last season's total and nine shy of matching the franchise record set in 1967-68 in Seattle's first season.
