Bobcats desperate for a win over lowly Grizzlies

Mar 17, 2008 - 1:18 PM Charlotte (24-42) at Memphis (15-50) 8:00 pm EDT

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) - Time is running out on the Charlotte Bobcats' bid to make the Eastern Conference playoffs.

The Bobcats face the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday having lost their last three games to fall four games behind New Jersey and Atlanta for the eighth and final playoff spot.

Despite 33 points from Jason Richardson, Charlotte fell to 6-25 on the road with Sunday's 98-91 loss at Cleveland. Monday's game is the fifth in a six-game trip for the Bobcats.

The playoffs are something the Grizzlies haven't had to worry about. Memphis is 2-18 since trading Pau Gasol to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Grizzlies are 1-9 in their last 10 games and have dropped four straight, including Saturday's 110-107 loss at Golden State.

Memphis has lost 19 of 21 games overall. The Grizzlies are 11-22 at home and are 7-18 against the East. The game will wrap the two-game season series. Charlotte won the first meeting at home, 105-87, on January 19 behind a 38-point, 14-rebound performance from Richardson.
