High-flying Nuggets visit Pistons

Mar 18, 2008 - 12:49 PM Denver (40-26) at Detroit (48-18) 7:30 pm EDT

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) - The Denver Nuggets likely will not be able to match their recent offensive outburst when they visit the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.

The Nuggets connected on 16-of-31 3-pointers in a 168-116 rout of the Seattle SuperSonics on Sunday, the most points in an NBA game since 1990.

Detroit, the second-best team in the league behind Boston, is expected to provide a bit more resistance against the Nuggets, who scored 84 points in a both halves of the rout.

After downing the San Antonio Spurs on Friday, Detroit used 29 points from Jarvis Hayes to dismantle the New Orleans Hornets, 105-84, on Sunday. With the win, the Pistons improved to 18-8 against the Western Conference this season.

Detroit hit 14 3-pointers in the win, one short of a franchise record.

The ninth-place Nuggets continue to remain close in the Western Conference playoff race, 1 1/2 games back of the Golden State Warriors (41-24).

Denver, which has won three straight games by an average of 35.3 points, got 13 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists on from Marcus Camby on Sunday - his fourth career triple-double.
