Warriors remain hot in Western Conference race

Mar 18, 2008 - 1:30 PM Golden State (41-24) at Sacramento (30-36) 10:00 pm EDT

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) - Baron Davis and the Golden State Warriors aim for their ninth win in 11 games Tuesday when they visit the Sacramento Kings.

Golden State, which leads Denver (40-26) by 2 1/2 games for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West, was able to pull out a 110-107 win over Memphis on Saturday despite some sloppy play.

The Warriors committed 20 turnovers, but Davis scored all of his 19 points in the second half to help them avoid an embarrassing loss. Golden State cannot continue its lackluster play against Sacramento and expect the same results.

The Kings' postseason aspirations are long gone, but they are playing well of late. Sacramento has won three of four, and is coming off a 106-100 win over Toronto on Sunday.

It was the 10th win in the last 13 home games for the Kings, who bounced back from a 127-99 loss to Phoenix on Saturday. Sacramento has received a boost from Ron Artest, who is averaging 21.0, 6.8 rebounds and 4.8 steals in four games since returning from a foot injury.

Golden State guard Monta Ellis scored a season-high 34 points in a 105-102 win in the last meeting on February 9. Ellis has averaged 28.0 points in the Warriors' two wins over the Kings.
