Grizzlies, Knicks playing out the string

Mar 21, 2008 - 2:25 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) - Little more than pride will be on the line Friday when the Memphis Grizzlies face the New York Knicks.

With the status of team president and coach Isiah Thomas again questioned, the Knicks look to snap a five-game losing streak at home. New York is 1-9 in its last 10 games.

"I plan on being here," Thomas said. "I'm here today, you'll see me tomorrow, and I'll be there the next day."

The Grizzlies have lost 18 consecutive road games, their longest streak since a franchise-worst 23-game skid to end the 1998-99 season. Memphis is 4-29 overall away from home, losing by an average margin of almost 10 points.

"They are all disappointing," Grizzlies' coach Mark Iavaroni said. "I don't count streaks. I am not thinking about that. I I am thinking about winning a game."

The Knicks, already without the services of Stephon Marbury and Eddy Curry, and with Quentin Richardson questionable, will also not have Zach Randolph for the next two games.

"This time of year, I think with the roster that we have, we need to take a look at the young players that we have," Thomas said.

The teams complete the two-game season series April 2 in Memphis.
