Without Gasol, Lakers try to continue winning ways vs. Warriors
Mar 23, 2008 - 1:32 PM Golden State (42-26) at LA Lakers (48-21) 9:30 pm EDTLOS ANGELES (Ticker) - The Los Angeles Lakers have proven they can win even without Pau Gasol in the lineup.
The Lakers go for their fourth straight win without their injured big man when they host the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.
Gasol, who is averaging almost 19 points and eight rebounds since joining the Lakers from the Memphis Grizzlies in February, has missed the last three games with an ankle injury.
That hasn't stopped Los Angeles, though, as it won its third straight game on Friday, claiming a 130-105 victory over the lowly Seattle SuperSonics. Kobe Bryant scored 23 points to lead the Lakers and has averaged 26 points in the three games without Gasol.
The Warriors have alternated wins and losses over their last six games and suffered a 109-106 loss to the Houston Rockets on Friday. Baron Davis scored 27 points and Monta Ellis added 24 as Golden State endured its first home loss since February 22 against the Atlanta Hawks.
Despite the loss, the Warriors (42-26) remained in eighth place in the Western Conference, 1 1/2 games ahead of the Denver Nuggets (41-28).
