Hornets look to complete season sweep of Cavaliers

Mar 26, 2008 - 2:07 PM New Orleans (48-21) at Cleveland (40-31) 7:00 pm EDT

CLEVELAND (Ticker) - In the ever-changing landscape of the Western Conference standings, every game is crucial to the New Orleans Hornets.

The Hornets, sitting atop the loaded West with the Los Angeles Lakers, face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.

New Orleans extended its winning streak to four games on Tuesday with a 114-106 victory at Indiana in the first game of a six-game road trip against Eastern Conference opponents.

David West had 31 points and 16 rebounds against the Pacers. In his last three games, the Hornets' power forward is averaging 31.7 points and 10.3 rebounds. New Orleans, 8-2 in its last 10 games, is 17-7 against the East this season and 21-11 away from home.

The Cavaliers haven't played since snapping a two-game winning streak Saturday with a 108-98 loss at Milwaukee. It was the sixth straight game Cleveland has allowed at least 100 points. The Cavaliers' Ben Wallace did not play due to back spasms.

The Hornets won the previous meeting between the teams, 86-76, on December 29. West and Chris Paul combined for 47 points, while LeBron James finished with 21 points for Cleveland on 8-of-21 shooting.
