Spurs go for sixth straight victory

Mar 28, 2008 - 12:47 PM Minnesota (18-52) at San Antonio (49-23) 8:30 pm EDT

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) - The San Antonio Spurs face the struggling Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday looking to extend their winning streak to six games.

The defending NBA champions are locked in a battle for the best record in the Western Conference and hope to take advantage of the Timberwolves, who have a 5-29 road record.

San Antonio will look to complete a four-game season sweep on Friday. The Spurs' average margin of victory in the first three games is 11 points.

"Every game is important and every game can change the standings," San Antonio point guard Tony Parker said. "We have to take care of business every game."

Minnesota has been showing some improvement of late, winning six of its last 10 games. The Timberwolves currently have the third-worst record in the loaded West and their road record is the second-worst in the league, only ahead of Memphis.

The Spurs have won seven consecutive home games against the Timberwolves.
