Raptors try to bounce back against Bobcats

Apr 4, 2008 - 1:18 PM Charlotte (28-47) at Toronto (38-37) 7:00 pm EDT

TORONTO (Ticker) - The Toronto Raptors look to bounce back from a disappointing loss when they host the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday.

The Raptors endured their second loss in the last three games on Wednesday, a 127-120 overtime setback to the Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta's Mike Bibby launched a 3-pointer over the Raptors T.J. Ford from the left wing with five-tenths of a second remaining to knot the contest, 107-107.

However, Ford somehow got open on the inbounds pass for the backdoor layup, collecting what appeared to be a stunning game-winning basket.

But, the call was overturned by head official Mark Wunderlich upon video review as replays showed that the 6-foot Ford released the ball a split-second after time expired.

The same video replays also revealed that the clock may have started before Ford touched the ball.

The controversial finish could prove costly for Toronto (38-37), which slipped into a tie for sixth place in the Eastern Conference with the Philadelphia 76ers (38-37).

Meanwhile, the Bobcats endured their second consecutive four-point loss on Wednesday, dropping a 118-114 decision to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jason Richardson poured in 31 points and added seven assists to lead Charlotte.
