Warriors look to rebound at Grizzlies

Apr 4, 2008 - 1:23 PM Golden State (45-30) at Memphis (20-55) 8:00 pm EDT

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) - After a pair of demoralizing defeats, the Golden State Warriors hope to get back on track against the lowly Memphis Grizzlies on Friday.

The Warriors lost for the 20th straight time at San Antonio, 116-92, and then were pounded at Dallas, 111-86, on Thursday.

Golden State, which plays at New Orleans on Sunday to finish its four-game road trip, has fallen one-game back of Denver (46-29) for the eighth and final playoff spot in the competitive Western Conference. The Mavericks are two games ahead of the Warriors in seventh.

Monta Ellis scored 27 points in the loss to Dallas, while captain Stephen Jackson had just two on 1-of-11 shooting. Jackson had six points on 2-of-12 in the loss to San Antonio.

Golden State, which had topped the 100-point mark in 37 straight games before the two defeats, should get back on track against the Grizzlies, who allow over 106 points per game.

The Warriors are trying to avoid their first three-game losing streak since starting the season 0-6.

Memphis had its best offensive game of the season on Wednesday, defeating the New York Knicks, 130-114. Rookie Javaris Crittenton led eight players in double figures with 23 points to go along with nine rebounds.
