Red-hot Spurs have difficult road test at Jazz

Apr 4, 2008 - 1:26 PM San Antonio (52-23) at Utah (50-26) 8:00 pm EDT

SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) - The San Antonio Spurs go for their ninth straight victory in a difficult venue Friday, when they visit the Utah Jazz.

The Jazz own the league's best home record at 34-4 and have won 24 of their last 25 at the EnergySolutions Arena.

But the defending champion Spurs come in playing their best basketball of the season, and are coming off a 116-92 pounding of Golden State on Tuesday.

Tony Parker scored 26 points on 12-of-19 shooting and Tim Duncan added 17 and 12 rebounds in the win.

San Antonio currently holds the second seed in the Western Conference, one-half game behind New Orleans (52-22), while Utah is in the fourth position.

The Jazz are coming off a 117-100 victory over Minnesota on Wednesday.

Mehmet Okur scored 22 points, while Deron Williams had 19 and 14 assists in the win. It was the seventh straight double-double for Williams, who is averaging 19.0 points and 13.4 assists over that span.

The teams have split the first two meetings this season with each winning on their own home court.
