Shorthanded Wizards host slumping Bulls

Apr 5, 2008 - 3:12 PM Washington (39-37) at Chicago (30-45) 8:30 pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Ticker) - All-Star Antawn Jamison almost singlehandedly carried the Washington Wizards into the postseason. Now they are without him.

The undermanned Wizards will look to continue preparation for the playoffs when they welcome in the slumping Chicago Bulls on Saturday.

Jamison missed his first game of the season with a sprained right shoulder suffered in Wednesday's setback to Milwaukee.

"I don't see me missing too much action," Jamison said. "If I'm not available (Saturday), then definitely Wednesday."

Washington ended its three-game losing streak on Friday with a convincing 109-95 triumph over the struggling Miami Heat.

The win also clinched a postseason berth for the Wizards, who have loss in the first round to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers the past two seasons.

Larry Hughes scored 25 points and Ben Gordon added 24 off the bench for Chicago in a 101-98 victory over Cleveland at home on Thursday.

The Bulls might be without forward Drew Gooden, who has missed the previous three games with a strained abdominal muscle. He is listed as day-to-day.

In their last meeting, Washington had six players in double figures in a 97-91 victory over Chicago on February 19.
