Spurs aim to begin new winning streak at Trail Blazers

Apr 6, 2008 - 2:07 PM San Antonio (52-24) at Portland (38-38) 6:00 pm EDT

PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) - The San Antonio Spurs hope to get back into the win column Sunday when they visit the slumping Portland Trail Blazers.

San Antonio had its eight-game winning streak snapped in a 90-64 loss at Utah on Friday. Tony Parker scored 17 points and Tim Duncan had 15 and 10 rebounds in the setback.

With the loss, the Spurs are tied with the Los Angeles Lakers (52-24) for second in the Western Conference and 1 1/2 games behind New Orleans (53-22) for first place.

The Spurs have dominated the recent history with Portland, winning the last 11 meetings, including the first two this season.

The Blazers have lost four straight contests and are at the .500 mark for the first time since they were 12-12 on December 16.

LaMarcus Aldridge scored 23 points and Jarrett Jack added 19 as Portland lost to Houston, 95-86, on Thursday.

Portland may get a boost on Sunday if Brandon Roy makes his return to the lineup. The All-Star has missed the last four games with groin and hip injuries he suffered on March 25.
