Lakers seek revenge against Kings
Apr 6, 2008 - 2:12 PM LA Lakers (52-24) at Sacramento (36-40) 9:00 pm EDTSACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) - The Los Angeles Lakers are already set for another postseason run. They now just need to secure a seeding.
The Lakers will look to continue their race to the top of the Western Conference standings when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Sunday.
Los Angeles enters just 1 1/2 behind New Orleans (53-22) for first place in the loaded West with six games remaining in the regular season.
Last time out, Lamar Odom had a season-best 31 points and 10 rebounds and Kobe Bryant added 25 and 10 as the Lakers clinched their third consecutive playoff berth with Friday's 112-108 win over Dallas.
"It feels good to clinch," Bryant said. "Obviously, there's plenty of work to be done. But that's the first step. It was similar to a playoff game. They're playing for their playoff lives. That means a lot of intensity, and lot of desperation, and we were able to respond to it."
Sacramento continued to play spoiler with its 118-115 victory over the Denver Nuggets despite not having Ron Artest (thumb) and Brad Miller (leg) in the lineup on Saturday.
In the last meetings, Beno Udrih and Kevin Martin combined for 46 points for the Kings in a thrilling 114-113 triumph at the Staples Center on March 9.
