Bobcats eye season sweep of Timberwolves

Apr 8, 2008 - 1:13 PM Minnesota (19-57) at Charlotte (29-48) 7:00 pm EDT

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) - With their slim postseason hopes hanging in the balance, the Charlotte Hornets were routed in their last game.

Now, officially eliminated from the playoffs, the Hornets host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday.

One day after downing playoff-bound Toronto, Charlotte was not competitive in a 101-78 loss to Boston on Saturday, continuing its long postseason drought. The Bobcats have yet to qualify for the playoffs in any of their four seasons of existence.

The loss was surprising in the sense that the Celtics did not play Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett or Ray Allen.

After losing against NBA-best Boston, the Bobcats must turn their attention to Minnesota, owners Western Conference's second-worst record.

The Timberwolves are coming off their own disappointing loss to Memphis, 113-101, on Sunday. The loss was their four straight and the sixth over their last seven contests.

Minnesota will be hoping the first season sweep against Charlotte in franchise history.
