Bucks hope to avoid season sweep by Celtics

Apr 11, 2008 - 2:31 PM Milwaukee (26-52) at Boston (62-16) 7:30 pm EDT

BOSTON (Ticker) - The Boston Celtics look to complete a season sweep of the Milwaukee Bucks when both clubs meet on Friday.

The last time the Bucks traveled to "Beantown," All-Star Paul Pierce torched them for 32 points on 9-of-22 shooting for the Celtics in a 104-82 victory on December 14.

Boston seeks its first sweep over Milwaukee since taking all five meetings during the 1985-86 campaign.

The Celtics came up on the short end of things in the finale of their three-game road trip with Wednesday's 109-95 setback at the Washington Wizards. Pierce led the way with 28 points.

Despite getting a career-high 38 points from Charlie Villanueva, the Bucks dropped their fourth consecutive outing with an 111-93 setback at Toronto on Wednesday.

"Every time I come here I feel like I got something to prove," said Villanueva, who was traded away from the Raptors after his rookie campaign. "It's just the way I feel. I was having fun out there. I was having a good time. It definitely feels good to go at the team that traded you."

Michael Redd poured in 25 points five days ago for Milwaukee, which nearly rallied from a 25-point deficit to edge Boston at the Bradley Center.
