Gay, Grizzlies aim for sweep of lowly Heat

Apr 11, 2008 - 3:00 PM Memphis (21-57) at Miami (14-64) 7:30 pm EDT

MIAMI (Ticker) - The Memphis Grizzlies will try to do something they haven't done in five seasons - complete a series sweep the Miami Heat.

On Friday, the Grizzlies aim for their first season sweep over the Heat since the 2002-03 campaign when the two clubs meet.

In their last matchup, Mike Miller had 25 points and Rudy Gay added 22 in Memphis' 101-94 victory over Miami at home on January 6.

The Grizzlies are looking to bounce back after getting crushed in Tuesday's 127-113 loss to the Phoenix Suns. Gay carried the load with 36 points and eight rebounds.

Kasib Powell had 18 points off the bench and Ricky Davis and Chris Quinn both added 16 to help the Heat snap a seven-game losing streak with Tuesday's 95-88 win over Chicago.

It was Powell's first game back after getting recalled from the D-league, where he captured MVP honors. The 6-7 forward also signed with the Heat for the rest of the season.

"I didn't know how much I was going to play," said Powell, who went undrafted out of Texas Tech. "Any time I go out there, I want to be full of energy and bring a boost up."
