With playoff hopes gone, Nets visit Bucks
Apr 12, 2008 - 1:59 PM New Jersey (32-47) at Milwaukee (26-53) 8:30 pm EDTMILWAUKEE (Ticker) - With their playoff hopes officially over, the New Jersey Nets visit the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.
The Nets, who had reached the postseason six straight seasons, were eliminated from playoff contention after enduring a 113-85 beating at the hands of the Toronto Raptors on Friday.
Vince Carter scored 21 points for the Nets, who were outscored by a lopsided 67-37 over the final two quarters.
"I believe that this is a very good team," Carter said. "Just because we are mathematically eliminated doesn't mean we give up on the season. I understand that it was an off year, but we are still out there to play hard and win games."
The Bucks have lost five straight games and already have clinched a last-place finish in the Central Division. Milwaukee is coming off a 102-86 loss to the league-best Boston Celtics on Friday.
New Jersey has won all three meetings from the Bucks this season and eight of the last nine overall.
