Bucks, Hawks heading in opposite directions

Nov 14, 2006 - 1:53 PM Milwaukee (2-5) at Atlanta (4-2) 7:00 pm EST

ATLANTA (Ticker) - Michael Redd's stellar play is being drowned out by the Milwaukee Bucks' dismal early season start.

Redd hopes to snap the Bucks' four-game losing streak Tuesday when they visit the Atlanta Hawks.

In a 113-111 loss to the Utah Jazz on Saturday, Redd scored 57 points, breaking the Bucks' single-game record of 55 set by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar against the Boston Celtics on December 10, 1971.

Redd, whose previous career high was 43 points, went 18-of-32 from the field - 6-of-12 from the arc - and made 15-of-17 free throws in the NBA's highest individual scoring game of the season. The seventh-year pro is averaging a league-high 32.4 points but has only led them to two wins in seven games.

Milwaukee is allowing an average of 104.7 points to its opponents, the third-worst mark in the league. The Bucks are off to their worst start since the 2000-01 season.

Atlanta suffered a 113-112 loss to Seattle on Saturday, snapping a four-game winning streak.

Hawks guard Joe Johnson, who has scored 25 or more points in a team-record six straight games to begin the season, had 28 in the loss to the Sonics.

Milwaukee has won five of its last six against Atlanta.
