Spurs, Rockets put four-game winning streaks on the line
Nov 14, 2006 - 2:16 PM San Antonio (5-1) at Houston (5-2) 8:30 pm ESTHOUSTON (Ticker) - The San Antonio Spurs may have a new arch-rival in the Southwest Division.
The Spurs take on the Houston Rockets when both teams put four-game winning streaks on the line Tuesday night at the Toyota Center.
San Antonio has been used to going back and forth with Dallas atop the division, but the Mavericks have lost four of their first six games, including a 107-76 pounding against the Rockets on November 4.
Houston dropped its next contest vs. New Orleans but has not lost since, allowing an average of 84.8 points in that span.
The Rockets are coming off a suffocating 94-72 triumph against Miami on Sunday as Yao Ming scored 34 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. Tracy McGrady was limited to 12 points on 6-of-18 shooting.
San Antonio extended its winning streak Saturday with a 100-92 win against New York. Tony Parker scored a season-high 33 points on 12-of-17 shooting and Tim Duncan added 24 points by making 10-of-16 shots, adding 16 rebounds and three blocks.
The Spurs have won 13 of their last 15 meetings with the Rockets.
