Pistons close home slate, host Timberwolves
Apr 15, 2008 - 1:30 PM Minnesota (21-59) at Detroit (57-23) 7:30 pm EDTAUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) - The Detroit Pistons close their home schedule Tuesday when they face the Minnesota Timberwolves. Already having clinched the Eastern Conference's second seed, the Pistons have gone 33-7 at the Palace of Auburn Hills this season. They will open the postseason at home against Philadelphia this weekend.
Detroit coach Flip Saunders has been giving his starters plenty of rest late in the season. No starter played more than 25 minutes in Sunday's 91-84 win over Toronto.
One player seeing increased time for the Pistons has been rookie Rodney Stuckey, who scored 18 points in the win over Toronto. He netted 27 in a 94-90 win over the Timberwolves on April 27, a contest in which All-Stars Chauncey Billups, Richard Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace sat for the Pistons.
The 6-5 Stuckey, who was selected 15th overall out of Eastern Washington, has managed to score in double figures in six of his last seven outings this month.
Despite having one of the worst road records in the league at 7-33, Minnesota picked up its second straight win away from home with Saturday's 114-105 win over Memphis.
"We were moving the ball well," Timberwolves guard Randy Foye said. "It's fun to play like that. You push the ball up, swing, swing, dunk. That's so fun, man. I love playing like that."
With a win, Minnesota would post its second three-game road winning streak of the season.
