Trail Blazers seek sweep of Grizzlies

Apr 15, 2008 - 1:43 PM Memphis (22-58) at Portland (40-40) 10:00 pm EDT

PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) - Trying to secure at least a .500 record, the Portland Trail Blazers host the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday.

After going 32-50 last season, the Trail Blazers set one of their goals this season of finishing with at least a .500 record. They could accomplish that with a win in this contest or Wednesday at playoff-bound Phoenix.

"For this season it's good to get there because you need to be in the 40s or better to have any chance at the playoffs," Blazers coach Nate McMillan said. "I'm excited about this team. "It's been a good year for us, to improve the way we have."

On Saturday, Brandon Roy scored 23 points and LaMarcus Aldridge added 22 in a 108-105 win over playoff-bound Dallas.

Portland has won the last two meetings over Memphis, including a 110-98 triumph on November 9. Aldridge collected 30 points and 10 rebounds.

A victory would give the Trail Blazers their first sweep in the series since doing so during 1998-99 campaign when the Grizzlies were located in Vancouver.

Rookie Mike Conley had 25 points and Rudy Gay chipped in 22 for Memphis, which looks to rebound after falling short, 114-105, to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday.
