After arrest, Anthony set for action in Nuggets finale

Apr 16, 2008 - 2:00 PM Memphis (22-49) at Denver (49-32) 9:00 pm EDT

DENVER (Ticker) - The Denver Nuggets have already clinched a playoff berth, but there will be plenty of drama during the season finale on Wednesday.

Carmelo Anthony returns to the court for the first time since his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence when the Nuggets wrap up their regular season against the lowly Memphis Grizzlies.

Anthony, the Nuggets second-leading scorer, was stopped by police just hours after Denver's 111-94 victory over Houston on Sunday.

Denver police have stated that Anthony was driving south on Interstate 25 roughly around 4 a.m. Monday when he was pulled over and taken into custody after failing several sobriety tests.

Investigators said he was driving a silver Mercedes that was stopped for failing to drive in a single lane and failing to dim lights.

"As a leader, I know they expect a lot from me and I regret putting myself in this situation," said Anthony, at a press conference to address the matter Tuesday. "I also want to apologize to my teammates for the distraction this has caused."

The Nuggets clinched the eighth and final playoff spot on Monday when the Golden State Warriors lost to the Phoenix Suns.

The Grizzlies had alternated wins and losses over their last six games but suffered their second straight setback on Tuesday, enduring a 113-91 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
