Suns still jockeying for position in West standings

Apr 16, 2008 - 2:30 PM Portland (41-40) at Phoenix (54-27) 10:00 pm EDT

PHOENIX (Ticker) - The Phoenix Suns try to wrap up the regular season on a positive note against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday.

The Suns enter in a three-way tie for fourth place with Houston (54-27) and Utah (54-27) in the Western Conference standings.

Phoenix is currently sixth in the standings, but could move into the fourth spot and grab home-court advantage if they win and other things break their way.

Amare Stoudemire scored 28 points to lead five others in double figures as Phoenix posted a 122-116 victory over the Golden State Warriors at home on Monday.

However, the Suns did receive some bad news as veteran Grant Hill aggravated his right groin injury and could be sidelined for this one. He is posting 13.2 points and 5.1 rebounds this season.

James Jones scored 20 points and Jarrett Jack had 18 points and seven rebounds as Portland defeated the Memphis Grizzlies, 113-91, on Tuesday at the Rose Garden.

With the win, Portland secured at least a .500 record for the first time since the 2002-03 campaign.

"This game was a must," Trail Blazers forward Channing Frye said. "Because 41 (wins) is not a losing season. To have a losing season with all the work we've done this year, it would have been (disappointing)."
