Warriors host Sonics in season finale

Apr 16, 2008 - 2:28 PM Seattle (19-62) at Golden State (48-33) 10:30 pm EDT

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) - The Golden State Warriors could have been playing for a playoff spot on Wednesday.

Instead, the Warriors play for nothing but pride when they wrap up their 2007-08 campaign against the Seattle SuperSonics.

Golden State had been battling the Denver Nuggets for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. However, the Warriors postseason chances suffered a huge blow on Thursday when the team endured a 114-105 loss to the Nuggets.

The Warriors fading hopes were dashed on Monday as they dropped a 122-116 decision to the Phoenix Suns, dooming Golden State to the offseason.

The SuperSonics, who are in the midst of their worst season in franchise history, gave their fans one more special memory on Sunday in what seemed inevitably to be their final home game in Seattle

The Sonics rallied with the game's final 10 points to defeat the Dallas Mavericks, 99-95, snapping a 13-game losing streak against its playoff-bound opponent in an emotionally filled arena.

The team could be moving to Oklahoma City this offseason.
